Formally called Ekoi, now classified as part of the Ejagham, this tribe is from the cross river area of Nigeria. This mask is brilliantly sculpted in wood and covered with leather. Its strong masculine face displays a distinct realism. Masks such as these are among the most realistic examples of African art.
