NOTRAD GALLERY Quilts from a Virtual Quilting Bee |
|||||||
|
SPECIAL EXHIBIT In this exhibit we introduce works by a group of women who have redefined the term "quilting bee." In the frontiers and rural communities quilting bees were often the only time women were able to socialize with other women while sharing the making of quilts. In this day of instant communication, women who may never have seen each other can form a community to share knowledge, to support each other, and to make quilts. NOTRAD is a new kind of quilting bee -- a virtual quilting bee. In addition to a statement about the work, I asked each person to tell us a little about herself -- what they do, where they work. I think you will be surprised by the diversity and by their many talents. Enjoy! Penny For more information about the group and its activities, please send e-mail to roggel@pacbell.net.
