I was introduced to the Internet through my job at a
computer manufacturer. My art quilts are represented by
the Dunn Mehler Gallery in Half Moon Bay, California, and
by Penny Nii.
"Cuttings From My Grandmother's Garden" is from my current series of quilts that start with fabric I have hand painted. The fabrics are cut freehand, arranged on a design wall, layered with batting and backing, and held together with machine quilting. The edges are left "raw" and large running stitches in pearl cotton are the only hand work visible. Hexagon pieces refer to the traditional pattern. This small quilt was made from the leftovers or "cuttings" from a larger, similar work called "My Grandmother's Flower Garden Never Looked This Good."
