Working within a rigid grid, I deliberately chose non-fabric materials to emphasize structure and add texture. The squares and rectangles reinforce the grid image and are symbolic of things that constrain me - time, physical limitations, duties. The circles represent freedom - the choices and possibilites I still have. Because of the refective materials used, as you look at the quilt, the surface continually changes.
