Silk Is Busting Out All Over by Susan C. Druding
Size: 24" x 17.5"
Material: Silk fabric, silk batting, silk threads and yarn
Owner, Straw Into Gold. Berkeley, CA (a textile arts supply
business) and Crystal Palace Yarns (wholesale fibers and

have been exhibited since the 1970's.
The structure of my piece is a tongue-in-cheek testimonial to silk and its use in everything from traditional designs to the most non-traditional. I attempt to show here that "Silk will out" - if an object or garment is made of pure silk, the ghost of those little worms and their cocoons will always linger... and who knows when they will decide to regain control and put in an appearance?
