Tea Narque by Diane Rode Schneck
Size: 17.5" x 18.5" Freelance professional quiltmaker, teacher and designer. I give fabric tours of New York City, and publish a newsletter called "New York Unraveled!". I got into the Internet after long years of experience online. I was a charter member of one of the earliest online quilting groups that formed on Prodigy in 1989. It was a natural jump from there to the Net, though I still really only use the Net for e-mail.
My TNARQ? piece is based on my observation of how items in our everyday lives could fit the same definition as a quilt- -that is, two outer layers and an inner filler--without actually being a quilt. Since I've been working on a series of coffee/tea/food/drink-related quilts for a few years now, I chose the humble teabag. Strictly speaking, the label is a real quilt, with 3 layers and a binding. I also like to see how far I can take an idea, and how many conventions, expectations, and lofty art ideals I can skewer along the way.
