About my art

My silk paintings are individual watercolors done in permanent dyes. I am continually fascinated by the process of fitting colors and fabric to design, and each pillow, scarf, or wall hanging is unique.

I paint each one individually, beginning with white silk stretched across wood bars. I do the drawing with a light pencil; apply gutta (resist) to contain the flow of dye; and then use brushes to apply the color.

My pillows and scarves are quite durable, even in daily use. I hope you enjoy them.

Washing instructions

The colors are permanent and will not bleed, and the pillows and scarves are hand washable. The wall hangings are also washable, off the frame.

Wash each in lukewarm water with mild detergent and rinse well. Roll in towels to absorb excess water.

Dry in dryer for one-half delicate cycle and then steam-iron, or air-dry until damp and then iron dry.

The backing of the pillow sham is natural raw silk, and the pillow inserts are cotton-covered polyester and washable.
